About the event
“When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty”… while attributed to Thomas Jefferson back in 1776, this directive to resist tyranny cannot be more relevant than it is today.
The Oakmont Democratic Alliance invites you and your friends to show up with your signs and your spirit of resistance to Oakmont Drive on Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 – 11:00. This is an encore of our successful demonstration on August 16. This time our focus will be on Prop 50.

There are some among us who do not wish to go to a mass protest so we thought we would bring the protest to Oakmont for another short morning. We will meet at 9:00 on the corner of Oakmont Drive and White Oak (near the Berger), string ourselves along both sides of Oakmont Drive and demonstrate to our neighbors that we have had ENOUGH of the fear, intimidation and lawless legislation. Whatever your issue is, bring a sign and stand up for the values you hold dear: freedom from fear, the right to healthcare for all, Immigration justice and an end to ICE abductions, climate justice, truth-telling in journalism, safeguarding Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and Foreign Aid and jobs. Whatever your issue, together we can take a stand, speak out and show we will not tolerate the destruction of our democratic values.
