Trump is saying he will deport 15-20 million immigrants if he is elected. Last summer, we got a taste of how other MAGA Republicans treat people fleeing poverty and violence when Ron DeSantis sent planeloads of immigrants to Sacramento.

At the Monday, May 13th 7PM meeting of the Oakmont Democratic Alliance (ODA), Fernando Cibrian and Diana Patterson of Sacramento ACT, two leaders who helped organize the welcoming response given these undocumented immigrants, will present both their experiences and their thoughts on how better to address the issue of immigration in our country.

With their help, will look at the personal trauma of people fleeing to the United States and how progressive organizations can respond. We will then examine the policies being proposed by Trump and MAGA Republicans and have an update on Alliance efforts and plans moving forward.

Sacramento ACT’s members include over 56 congregations, schools and neighborhood groups, representing 60,000 families who organize to create a more just and fair community for everyone in the Sacramento region, with a particular focus on communities of color that have experienced historical discrimination and disinvestment.

Diana Patterson is the ACT Director of Operations since 2017 and leads day to day operations. Fernando Cibrian has over 20 year of community organizing and was the Director of Organizing for Mutual Housing of California and a State Level Organizer for PICO California.

The 7PM hybrid meeting at the East Rec Center will begin with a social at 6:30 PM. Enjoy pizza provided by our hosts, the Oakmont Progressives, and margaritas provided by a member who shall remain anonymous.
