WHY: We’re seeing the most serious threat to our democracy in many generations, with a coterie of billionaires attempting to set up an authoritarian regime that bypasses traditional checks and balances. So we want to support effective local and national groups working to foster progressive causes and elect progressive candidates and win back the House..
This event will support two groups, the Working Families Party of the North Bay, and Seed the Vote. Working Families has spread to over 30 states nationally to nominate progressive candidates in races where no progressive is running, and support progressive candidates nominated by other parties. Locally, for example, Working Families successfully endorsed Chris Rogers for the Santa Rosa City Council and Jackie Elward for the City Council in Rohnert Park. Seed the Vote recruits and trains canvassers to travel to battleground states to elect progressive candidates. They sent over a dozen canvassers to work in the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court race, for example and we won!
